The ICEA certification standard for Vegetarian and Vegan checks that the products certified as Vegetarian do not contain any animal origin ingredient obtained with their sacrifice. They can include food of animal origin as long as it is obtained humanely, such as honey, eggs, milk and dairy products. The Vegan certified products must not include any ingredient, food or adjuvant derived from animals.
The ICEA certification for Vegetarian and Vegan products is normally applied to food and agricultural products obtained at a specific production unit and gastronomic preparations and/or menu served in a specific cooking center subjected to control and certification. The certification can also be applied to other products and non-food substances, especially cosmetics and detergents that meet the requirements of the standard. Only food products can obtain the Vegetarian or Vegan Organic certified level.
