Created in 1991, the ECOCERT Group, a world leader in organic farming certification, draws on an international network with subsidiaries active in over 80 countries.
Beyond its expertise in the field of certification, ECOCERT encourages the development of best practices by drafting recognized and strict standards in the environmental field, and conducts its own environmentally friendly projects.
To date, there is no standard that regulates non-food organic products, both in France and in Europe. In the absence of clear regulations and the fact that there are numerous self-certifications offering no guarantees, the group decided to develop its own specifications.
Therefore, ECOCERT defines new requirements that are superior to conventional regulations and other certification bodies. These standards aim to guarantee respect for the environment throughout the production chain, respect for the consumer and an enhancement of natural and organic ingredients.
Recognized for its expertise and its rigor, ECOCERT represents a real guarantee of safety for the consumer. Furthermore, the ECOCERT brand is a way of communicating your commitments in a transparent manner. ECOCERT is now positioned as the benchmark brand in terms of natural and organic certification.
The European organic products market has increased by a factor of four in 10 years, according to a study carried out by BVA in February 2014. 75%1 of the French buy organic products at least once a year.
This growing environmental awareness is a fundamental trend which extends far beyond food products.
Indeed, 49% of the French stated having purchased non-food organic products in 2012. In order to guarantee respect for the environment across an increasing number of products, ECOCERT has decided to diversify its activities.
