Myanmar Tea Producer and Exporter' Association was established at March 2013 to promote tea clusters in Myanmar and became an official legalized Association at 2018. There are nearly 20,000 members which includes tea farmers, producers, traders and exporters. It was initiated and led by Myanmar Tea Producers with the main purpose is to enhance the livelihood of the whole value chain actors.
Myanmar has grown tea for hundreds of years and has a very strong tea culture that includes pickled tea, green tea and black tea. Two main species of Assam and Camelia can be easily grown at high elevations and in many weather conditions. In addition, 65% of tea farms are organic farms. Myanmar is one of the countries that cultivate best tea in the world, and one of the top counties which produced the highest rate. Myanmar is one of very few countries where tea is eaten as well as drunk.
