Our farm is specialized in organic vegetables productions, controlled since 1996 by I.C.E.A. (Istituto di Certificazione Etica Ambientale) according to Reg. UE 834/07.
It has a whole surface of about 150 ha, divided into 3 main productive branches:
• the first one, with a surface of 52ha, is situated in Capua (CE) and is the central building of our firm.
• the second one, with a surface of 35 ha, is situated in Castelvolturno (Ce) and his aim is vegetable and cereal productions.
• the third one, with a surface of 15 ha, is situated in San Tammaro (Ce)and his aim is vegetable and cereal productions.
The complete transformation of our organic farm La Colombaia into a biodynamic method carries out in 2006, when the first vegetables productions has been authorized by the sign Demeter; the development from the organic into biodynamic is been gradual, because the firm, his property, and his employees have been learning in these years the consciousness of what this new method gives to everybody and to everything (field-animals-men) a new “vitality” made of a perfect balance between needs of nature and man.
Being consciousness that growing a field in respect of the environment, nature, time and cycle, creates an “eco-friendly” farming during the time and for the future generations, it induces in everybody, who lives and works in our firm, a sense of satisfaction and internal serenity, which makes it in balance with himself/herself, with others and with the whole world. Different employees into the firm (from the director to the agronomist) have followed specific courses on biodynamic, which are conducted with full efficiency; La Colombaia has got a livestock farm of “Casertana” black pigs, which live in the wild, to be able to collect its manure and transform it into a fertility; to it is added a plant material compost, which are made in firm with the rest of organic vegetables. Biodynamic compost is enhanced and enlivened through the use of crop rotation and other herbs essences (brassicaceae, legume, cereals etc.).
These plantations are regularly taken care through biodynamic compost, bio-activators of several microbiological and chemical methods, which promote the growing and the protection of plants.
Our firm has attended for years to several collaborations with Italian and foreign realities to give information each other and to realize projects; at the beginning of 2011 it started an important partnership with some companies of biodynamic seeding, such as SATIVA and ARCOIRIS, with the aim of testing and increasing many standard varieties of vegetables, grown through biodynamic techniques.
The farm, following a specific campaign of crop rotation, has produced respecting the seasonality of cultivations; the main used techniques aim to preserve the environment and the soil.
For this goal in the farm are used:
- crop rotation for the fertility of fields
- mulchs made with corn starch (100 % biodegradable) for mulching
- adding insect useful for the control of the main phytophagous
- use of biodynamic preparations for the cure of soil and plants
- compost of organic manure treating with biodynamic preparations
The farming also has got a modern platform of production and distribution of our products:
over protected 1500 sq, productions are undergone air-conditioning and packaging, ready for sale.
We have got the most modern machineries for the washing of vegetables and for the packaging (flow pack, pack-machinery, weight and film machinery).
Our products are ready to being sale in National and International supply, refrigerated in cold storage and ready for delivery.
