Konjac is manufactured from the tubers of the Asian Konjac plant. It looks similar to a sugar beet, but Konjac offers far more possible applications. Its ingredient Glucomannan has an immense water-binding capacity and swells in the digestive tract. Thanks to this saturating effect, Konjac can have a supporting effect during a calory-reduced diet and may also have a positive effect on the intestinal flora. In Asia, Konjac has been cultivated for about 3000 years. It is widely used as a thickener and gelling agent in different foods. A couple of years ago, Konjac has found its way to Western countries as well. C.E. Roeper GmbH offers Konjac in certified organic quality.
