KULAU Organic Dried Seaweed - vegetable out of the sea. Harvested by hand, gently air dried below 40 °C and air crushed to flakes: That's how the culinary specialties will find their way out of the waters of the Galician Atlantic coast of Spain to our production facilities in Berlin. They remain free of any additives, are vegan, gluten-free and suitable raw food.
Algae pose a yet to be discovered, culinary potential. Highly appreciated in Asia for thousands of years and consumed daily, they are increasingly well received in Europe, as they can be very valuable for the diet-conscious cuisine. The five different KULAU Organic Dried Seaweed are distinguished by their different characteristics and flavors. However, they all have in common: They are high in fiber and protein, have little fat and are virtually sugar free. However, they have a very high iodine concentration for European standards. Therefore, the KULAU Organic Dried Seaweed should be enjoyed in moderation. Per meal no more than 5 g should be used and a daily dose of iodine of more than 0.2 mg must not be exceeded.
KULAU Organic Dried Seaweed can be used in its dried state, as well as in its rehydrated state. When rehydradet it can enlarge up to 10 times its volume.
The KULAU Organic Dried Seaweed comes from a small, family-operated algae manufactory in Spain on the Galician coast. They are carefully picked by hand, gently air-dried and shipped free of any additives to Germany. Our partners of sheltered workshops MOSAIK then fill it into organic paper stand bags, always accounting the highest quality standards in Germany.
KULAU offers the following five types of algae:
Nori is a red algae that should be known amongst sushi fans already, since
it is especially popular for the production of these delicious, small rolls. It is rich in protein, vitamin
A and B12.
Wakame is a brown algae, but is distinguished by its great green color and crunchy
consistency. In Japan it belongs (after Nori-algae) to the top favorite algae and is eaten almost every day. It is rich in protein, calcium and iodine.
Dulse belongs - quite obviously - to the family of red algae and turns every dish into an optical eye-catcher. It is rich in protein, iron, vitamins A and C.
The long, delicate leaves of this brown algae qualify it as a gladly used, gluten-free variant of a delicious pasta. It is rich in iron, potassium, iodine and vitamin C.
Sea lettuce is a green algae and is not - as so often mistaken - a mixture of various algae, but is an independent algae sort. It is rich in magnesium, potassium, calcium and iodine.
KULAU Organic Dried Seaweed is available in 25 g paper bags and bulk size (5 kg).
