In order to be eligible to import organic products from a third country to the European Union the importer must meet the requirements of regulation (EC) 834/2007. Additionally, the entire agricultural production and processing system in the goods' country of origin must be subject to an approved inspection scheme.
During an initial onsite inspection of your offices and facilities QC&I will gather all data necessary to appraise and describe your enterprise, including:
- Exporting partners outside of EU
- Production and Processing unit and history
- Unit 's stock and financial records, certificates of conformity and equivalency.
In collaboration with the operator, QC&I specifies the measures necessary for the system to operate within the requirements of regulation (EC) 834/2007. These measures may include defining procedures to assure the separation of organic and conventional products during storage and transport.
After QC&I certifies the conformity of the system to the requirements of regulation (EC) 834/2007, the importer submits QC&I's inspection report and the certificate of conformity together with an application for import authorization to the competent authority for the European importer. Once the import authorization has been granted, the goods may clear customs at the European port of entry.
