A special feature brought 1882 k.k. privileged Kaiserbretzen, luxury, white and dark bread baker Eduard Wunderlich on the market - the Käsebretzen. Allegedly Empress Elisabeth had tasted this pastry once in the Prater and was off so enthusiastic that Wunderlich had to deliver it to the Vienna court twice a day- as he announced in a newspaper ad to his audience. The claim is notquite out of thin air, because the citizens of the Monarchy loved pretzels and cheese pastry.
