The Davert chiaseeds are now also available in demeter quality!
In the heart of Uganda, on nutrient-rich soils under optimal climatic conditions, the first Chia from biological-dynamic cultivation grows as part of the Davert project "Kyampisi".
Our partner has been working on the farm in the village of Kyampisi since 2007 according to the strict Demeter guidelines. On the farm around 200 people are working, including many women, who find it particularly difficult to find a properly paid job in Uganda.
In addition to the highest quality standards and safe working conditions, all parties commit themselves to fair wages, which are also ensured by independent third parties within the framework of certification "fair for life".
On the farm there is a nursery for the offspring of the employees. All employees have at least one free day per week and are provided daily with breakfast and a warm lunch on the farm. Furthermore, people on the farm can benefit from medical care and cultural facilities.
Davert employees visit the farm regularly to support our partner in cultivation and see the quality of the products and working conditions.
For over 5,000 years chiaseeds have been valued as a high-quality food in the countries of origin. The seeds provide important nutrients such as protein, fiber and valuable unsaturated fatty acids. Chiaseeds are extremely diverse. They can be mixed into fruit or vegetable juices or yogurt and muesli.
