Our jackfruit - one of the best meat alternatives on the market.
Why? The jackfruit is low in fat and calories and rich in fibre.
Its ecological footprint is much smaller than that of meat.
What you can do with it?
Really everything, from Bolognese to burger, just think of tacos but also goulash, only you can set limits to your imagination.
Native to South India
The jackfruit trees are native to southern India. The fruits weigh up to 50 kg and grow directly on the trunk. When ripe, they are sweet and fruity. If harvested unripe, however, they have little aroma, but their consistency is similar to meat. The young fruits contain a lot of fibre and are virtually fat-free by nature.
Taste: neutral, similar consistency to meat
Important: the pre-cooked and ready-to-eat fruit flesh should be seasoned - this is the only way to give it its aroma.
Use: as a meat substitute, for roasting and cooking
