Who we are
TANGO Seaweed AS was founded in 2016 by Annelise Chapman and Bjørn Otterlei based on their shared interest in the world of seaweeds and the vision for developing a new type of aquaculture in our region. We are located in Herøy, on the west coast of Norway, where we hold two cultivation licenses for the production of kelp and other macroalgae.
In addition to our founders’ expertise and background on seaweed ecology and coastal ecosystems, as well as seafood markets and business, we have now gathered a strong team working towards creating value from seaweed as raw material as well as from ecosystem benefits provided by innovative ocean farming.
As a company, we are driven by the belief of seaweed farming as a meaningful venture, and we have embarked on a journey full of powerful visions, exciting prospects and endless surprises.

At TANGO Seaweed we cultivate seaweeds according to nature’s principles. We are committed to producing high quality kelps and other macroalgae for human food.
Whether you enjoy seafood and would like to explore new tastes, are looking for vegetarian supplements and alternatives to conventional diets or whether you want to advance both your own and the planet’s health – seaweed is right for you.
From the selection of cultivation sites, growth and production technology, to harvesting and processing, we operate according to high standards, with the goal to deliver delicious seaweeds from clean ocean environments. Our production is transparent and traceable, and we always aim for excellent quality.
