Commitment to tradition
Our family company: Craftsmanship in the fourth generation.
Both tradition and innovation play an important role in our family history. Our company was founded as the „Rheinische Apfelkrautfabrik“, a producer of apple butter, in 1917. ln 1930 Wilhelm van Nahmen decided to extend the operation to the production of apple juice. Farmers from the region brought their apples to the press and received pure juice in return. With this juice exchange process, that was popular at the time, our grandfather was soon producing so much that he could supply the entire valley of the Rhine area with delicious juice. Right up to today, we take fruit from partners with fruit tree old orchards and private people
from the region and process this into our delicious directly-pressed juice. This fresh entrepreneurial start by Wilhelm van Nahmen was an innovative step which has had a marked impact on the philosophy of our private press. Today also, we stand by the established traditions of our craft and press juice from all the native fruits ourselves. This love for regional pleasures is carried on into each new generation.
Habitat mixed orchards
Our family-run company has been supporting the maintenance of orchards as speciesrich biospheres since 1994.
Up to 1,000 different types of animal live on fruit tree orchards. To protect their habitat we have committed ourselves to a surcharge strategy in cooperation with the German Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union - this ensures that farmers receive high harvest prices in return for maintaining traditional orchards. The fruit from the orchards provides a wide variety in terms of type, size, appearance and taste. Apples from high old trees have plenty of taste and aroma. They have an ideal ratio of natural fruit sugar and fruit acid and yield an especially nourishing, flavoursome apple juice.
