Nearly 40 years of organic muesli from Barnhouse
From small Krunchy baker to market leader
In the beginning there was the cluster. That’s how the small caked nuggets are called that stuck in every pack Barnhouse Krunchy. In Germany, this product was completely unknown, similar cereals were available only in England and the USA. After a trip abroad in 1979, Neil Reen and Sina Nagl decided to bake their own crunchy granola for the German market – in 100% organic quality. Starting point was the oven in their home kitchen.
Delivery by bike
The first German Krunchy was delivered to the five organic food stores in Munich by bike. Daily output at that time: 4 kilos. Today Barnhouse is the market leader in the organic sector and produces at the site in Mühldorf/Bavaria. Specially skilled personell is working in three shifts around the clock, five days a week. Today, the production runs on baking lines, fully automated and meeting the highest quality standards. And the expansion of the baking capacity is under progress. For all that success Barnhouse is still an independent family business with heart and soul and engaged in social and ecological activities. The workmanship of 100% organically grown ingredients is a matter of course.
Over 30 varieties and a festival of tastiness
Today Barnhouse produces over 30 varieties of breakfast cereals and bars. In addition to oats, the classic cereal grain, spelt, amaranth and quinoa are used. All products are manufactured without flavoring or other flavor enhancers - without exception. Since a few years there is a cooperation with regional farmers who cultivate oat and spelt especially for Barnhouse. This helps to support and extend organic farming and is an active contribution to environmental protection.
