Ethanol generates more than 1 million jobs in Brazil and, when compared to gasoline, reduces in about 90% the emission of greenhouse effect gases, main cause of global warming. Ethanol is less harmful than gasoline for the environment and the one produced in Brazil is considered the best of the world. For each unit of fossil energy (gasoline, diesel) used in its production, are generated 9.3 units of renewable energy. That relationship, called “energetic balance”, is almost seven times larger than the one obtained by corn ethanol (used in United States) and four times larger than beet or wheat ethanol (produced in Europe).
