TEIKEI is a non-profit organisation that brings sophisticated producers and conscious consumers into a relationship of solidarity on an equal footing. The focus is the development of a global economy that is sustainable from an ecological, social and economic point of view. To this end, Teikei takes up the idea of community supported agriculture and links it with structures of the associative economy. The outcome is a global organism that places the human being at the centre of economic activity and thereby preserves maximum appreciation and respect for the environment.
TEIKEI pursues ambitious goals and implements an innovative economic model. Coffee is the pioneer product of the company. Coffee in particular holds immense potential for improvement in social and ecological terms, which TEIKEI fully exhausts. At the heart of the aforementioned organism is a community of solidarity. This community includes our coffee farmers in Mexico, our sailors from the freight sailing shipping company "Timbercoast", our roaster from "Grano Moreno" and our consumers in Germany. Together, these four links make TEIKEI COFFEE possible:
On three fincas in Mexico, the TEIKEI COFFEE grows in agroforestry under permacultural techniques, preserving at least 70% of the natural forest. Producers are also trained to use demeter standards and receive a wage of more than 7€ per kg of coffee, which is far above the fair trade standards. After the harvest, the freight sailing vessel "Avontuur" transports the coffee to Germany by wind power. This means that only the absolute minimum CO2 emissions are generated during transport. Noise emissions to the ocean are also avoided, protecting the marine ecosystems. After the coffee is extinguished in Hamburg, it is professionally roasted according to organic guidelines. The coffee can now be distributed to the consumer community, which has pre-financed the value chain. Each member receives his coffee according to his or her share of the harvest.
As one of the best Arabica beans in the world, TEIKEI COFFEE combines excellent taste with a clear conscience.
TEIKEI plans to be able to integrate more farmers into its community each year, so that the entire coffee growing region in Veracruz, Mexico is authorised to farm in such a way that people and land are well. With the successful further development of TEIKEI Coffee, TEIKEI will also add further products to its portfolio, including tea, spices and chocolate.
The coffee producers, sailors and roasters will be found side by side, under the flag of the TEIKEI community at the Biofach. We look forward to your visit and to making you experience the TEIKEI-organism in conversation.
