KULAU means "young, green coconut" in the language Tok Pisin in Papua-New Guinea. It stands for a small, Berlin-based company, which is passionately dedicated to natural, delicious and visionary organic food. It all started with the coconut range and there we are still one of the pioneers on the European market today.
It all started in 2007, when KULAU founder and CEO Josefine Staats drank a delicious cocktail directly from a fresh coconut on a beach in Thailand. The enthusiasm for the coconut tree, from which everything can be utilized - from the root to the blossom - was kindled. Since 2008, she has been working with her steadily growing team in Berlin to make the best quality organic coconut products available to her customers - with success. KULAU is now one of the European market leaders in the field of innovative and natural coconut products. The product range ranges from refreshing organic coconut water, fine-grained bio-coconut sugar and versatile organic coconut oil to young, green coconuts and much more.
Since 2015, KULAU has been offering not only coconut products, but a new range: KULAU Sea Veggies, a growing selection of high-quality seaweed products.
These are delicious edible algae, which are still considered niche products in Europe, but have enormous culinary potential.
The line includes five rich varieties of organic dried seaweed, organic seaweed salt, an organic seaweed bouillon, unique organic seaweed crisps and now also organic nori snacks, which are a snack-hit in Asia.
All KULAU products are produced in compliance with high ecological and ethical standards. For this reason, KULAU works with various international experts to promote more mixed culture projects instead of monocultures.
