Essential has a diverse range of the highly acclaimed Algamar sea vegetables including:
  • Alga Instant – perfect for instant use, these nutritional, tasty, unsalted sea veg can be sprinkled into rice, salads, soups, vegetables and stews.
  • Atlantic Agar Agar Flakes – the highest quality sea gelatine extracted from the Gelidium sesquipedale algae. Neutral in flavour, it can be used like gelatine to set desserts and thicken sauces, soups and purées.
  • Atlantic Dulse – rich in Vitamin C, Dulse is also notable for its protein and exceptional potassium content. Reddish in colour and delicate in flavour, it can be added to salads, soups, noodles, couscous, polenta, millet and quinoa.
  • Atlantic Kombu – a large, brown-grey sea vegetable, it grows at an average depth of 12 metres. It adds a savoury flavour when combined with other vegetables or used in soups and casseroles. It goes particularly well with pulses. Rich in alginic acid and minerals (especially calcium and magnesium) it is highly nutritious.
  • Atlantic Nori Flakes – this small alga is gathered wild at low tide and ground into flakes. It has a strong flavour and can be eaten raw or lightly toasted and sprinkled onto dishes. It is high in protein, vitamin A and vitamin B12.
  • Atlantic Sea Vegetables for Salad - a handy combination of Wakame, Nori and Dulse, this simply needs soaking before adding to salads.
  • Atlantic Wakame – this alga is rich in calcium, iodine, proteins and fibre and is a versatile sea vegetable that can be added raw to salads or used in soups, rice and with other vegetables.
