It’s not by chance, in this globalisation era, that Municipalities become a reference point to guarantee a more advanced form of democracy, a different system of relationships among local government, territory and society. Municipalities become the guarantee of a “development” perspective aimed at exploiting the distinctive characteristics of the territory, activating at the same time the endogenous energies of the local subjects. Municipalities become the defence point of the different development and enhancement ways of biological, environmental, cultural, economic and social differences.
For these reasons we feel committed to search and use new tools, and the "organic way" emerges today as a possible path to identify opportunities and solutions in direction of a development model taking care of resources conservation, environmental compatibility, enhancement of local differences. The "Organic way" becomes, from agri-cultural method, a cultural proposal, an "organic" linked to territory, grown aware that it’s necessary to proceed from the farm conversion to the territory conversion globally seen, involving new economical activities, planning “area projects”, building districts, involving different productive sectors too.
Organic agriculture experience is a concrete indication of the possibility to join the development of resources conservation, taking environmental as well as citizens’ health care.
It’s then the moment where it emerges the necessity to promote an exchange of knowledge among different administrations, creating a network out of the projects already developed to enhance this grid of experiences, to set up tools and services for further initiatives, to generate a strong identity from the "organic" choice.
Introducing organic food in schools' catering is going to be one of the first steps that "Città del Bio" will undertake, together with an engagement on the food’s topics and consumption education.
The first initiative will be the establishment of a "Bio-catering Observatory", aiming at recording institutions in progress introducing organic food in school catering: such action will be publicised on the Association web site.
All local administrations that have already invested in policies supporting organic sector, as well as those intending to achieve the same goal, are welcome to join our association.
