A family, cider-making and the Taunus
A family of cider-makers
“The Heil family is sitting the whole day long on a perfectly green lawn under lush apple trees and drinks apple juice. Nothing else! And for the grown ups, there’s cider to drink. That’s it!”
This is how life would be presented in an ad. But the Heil family really does exist: Father, mother, two sons, a daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Even though, at some very rare moment, a family member may drink something else than an own product, it can be said that basically life revolves round the company and the products that are finally filled into bottles.
Walfried Heil, the father, is the most experienced person in the company. He keeps track of things and sees that everything is OK. He knows most of the fruit growers and suppliers personally and out of business relations often developed real friendship. Ursula Heil, the mother, is the warm-hearted center of the family business.
Together with their father, the two sons run the company: Christof Heil, as a Fruit Juice Technician and graduate in Beverage Technology, is responsible for technical questions as well as flavour and quality of all Heil products. Martin Heil, a graduate in Business Administration, takes care of everything concerning organization, management, marketing and advertising. Nevertheless, the two of them often team up and sometimes Martin gives an input on the mixture of a new fruit juice and Christof has the idea for a name of a new product or its label.
