In 1959 Sir Giuseppe Ricci bought a small soft wheat mill for his three sons Franco, Enrico and Federico, located in the centre of a small town, Ospedalicchio, marking the birth of what has since become Molitoria Umbra.
In the mid-eighties, the three brother decided to enter into the durum wheat business, initially by hiring a mill and then, in the early nineties, with the construction of the facility which currently mills approximately 600 tons of wheat per day, with a total annual production of approximately 200,000 tons. In almost 60 years of history, Molitoria Umbra has embraced a path characterised by constant development and with par ticular focus on quality and innovation, facing up to challenges with a firm grip on fundamental Ricci family values such as: unity, tirelessly striving for quality and a passion for work. Today, Molitoria Umbra is continuing along its path of constant
development, affirming itself as a leading company in the milling sector.
Growing demand for natural foodstuffs and increasing focus on health and the environment inspired us to create a range of organic products. Thanks to the new plant and numerous conformity certifications, we decided to make further investments into this important sector. As of 2019, we will dedicate an increasing amount of space to organic ranges which we consider to be strategic and in line with our ethics, focused on caring for the territory and consumers.
Molitoria Umbra has always invested extensively into technology and quality, fully refitting its milling plant with state-of-the-art machinery. The Company has also opened its very own internal laboratory where over 300,000 chemical-physical and product analyses are carried out each year, while also working with external accredited laboratories to guarantee total Food Safety.. Accurate controls ensure only the best wheat is selected and meticulously analysed, so that clients are supplied with the best possible product.
