The history of Cantina Cerretano began in the early 1900s, when Domenico “Facciabbella” Cerretano began selling the wines of his beloved Abruzzese land. His son, Nicolò Giorgio, inherited this passion and, marrying Rachele Di Pompo, added to the wine trade a small production of his own, thanks to the ability to grow the grapes of his wife’s family. Their son Antonio founded Cantina Cerretano in the 60s and implemented new vineyards. From that moment on, the production of grapes and wines has experienced a constant and exponential growth. We have accepted responsibility to continue the path traced by our ancestors and our father, Antonio; today, the fourth generation of Cerretanos, continues to manage the family business with passion and honor, keeping the inherited tradition intact.
Our wines are made by striking the right balance between tradition, winery art and winery up-to-date technology, in step with the ever increasing desire of wine loving consumers to have excellent and non-standard wines on the table. In the wines we make, which are intense, fruity and ample like the region of Abruzzo, there is the lush nature and uniqueness of our land. Our wines are created through the interaction of grapes with earth, sun and rain. The human hand interferes skilfully and respectfully with this cycle. The transformation of our business into an organic winery stems from our close interaction with the environment as well as with the deep-rooted belief that only when respected and left unspoiled nature gives us plenty of good and healthy products. Against this background, the adoption of a vegan approach to wine making and the vegan certi0cation for our wines have been the next step in our ethical choice. The elimination of polluting chemicals, the adoption of organic farming, the use of products for wine-making not containing OMG
or animal derived substances, little manipulation of wine during production are the tenets of our production philosophy. This philosophy is what underpins the pleasant sensorial experience of our wines. In a few words: excellent and unique wines
