The objective of the program "Environmental Governance and Biodiversity" is to introduce in Algeria instruments and approaches of environmental governance aimed at ensuring the protection of the environment and the safeguarding of biological diversity, for example through the management of protected areas in using participatory approaches.
Through its component "Development of biological resources", the project has managed the organization of 4 sectors: vegetable and essential oils of lentisque; aromatic and medicinal plants; honey; oil and vinegar of the prickly pear. These support activities led to the creation of the first two women's cooperatives in Algeria, "Green Women" and "Fleur de l'Edough", both specialized in the development of Perfume, Aromatic and Medicinal Plants (PPAM).
Support for the participation in the BIOFACH 2019 fair of an Algerian delegation composed of representatives of the two "Green Women" cooperatives specialized in the valorization of aromatic and medicinal plants (in El Tarf, the first pilot zone of the project, in the extreme East of Algeria) and "Miel de l'Edough" specialized in the production of honey and its derivatives (in Annaba, second pilot area of the project, in eastern Algeria), the PPAM & HE Consortium for structuring and organization of the Perfume, Aromatic and medicinal plants and essential oils sector (PPAMHE), of the company "BOUBLENZA" specialized in the production and processing of carob powder and carbohydrates BIO, from the company "Biodattes" - Algeria »specializing in the export of the BIO date and of the company" BIOPAM Nature of Algeria "specialized in the marketing of BIO essential oils, meets the objective support for the GENBI program in this sector, in particular by improving the marketing of products, facilitating contacts with international companies and networking in order to facilitate their access to international markets.
